We have been considering what to do with the aging patio in our back yard for several years. We finally made the decision that the weeds growing out of the cracks between the stones were just too big and that it was finally time to do something this year.

Mothers day hike along the Braggin Rights trail in West Bragg Creek. It was a beautiful day but we were quite surprised by how much snow was still on the trail. It was pretty wet and tough slogging in some places, but we managed to do the 9.3 km loop in about 3 hours.

Although winter has officially only just begun, we’ve had a lot of winter already in Calgary this year. Sometimes that can be annoying, but other times it can be simply beautiful. When the hoar frost settled down over the city at the end of December it was crazy beautiful. We went for a walk along the river pathway and into Sue Higgins park (Southland Dog Park) to enjoy the scenery. While at the Cottage Uncle Wayne took us for a tour of the Shaw Woods Outdoor Education Centre. Shaw Woods is a beautiful old growth forest that has an abundance of wildlife and plant growth. Wayne volunteers as a tour guide and had plenty of things to show us as we wandered along the trails.
