Ride the Rideau 2013 Slideshow

Louise and her brother Rob have been training all summer for Ride the Rideau, a 100 km bike ride to raise money for cancer care and treatment at the Ottawa Hospital. They did the ride in memory of their father John (who passed away July 13th, 2012) and together they raised over $4,000. The grand total for the ride was over $2,000,000 which is nothing short of amazing! If you would like to help out then you can still sponsor them using the following link: http://www.louiseandsean.com/ridetherideau Here are a few of my favorite images from the slideshow:

Hiking to Chester Lake in Kananskis

Scenery, Animals, and Wild Strawberries

We went out to the mountains for some "mountain therapy" (hiking at Chester Lake in Kananaskis). It rained most of the trip which made some of the familiy members a little less happy about the therapy they were getting than others, but it was still a beautiful trip and we got to enjoy some amazing vistas, plenty of animals, and a feast of wild strawberries on the trail. The highlight of the trip definitely was seeing a large bear eating berries on the side of the road. The bear was completely oblivious to the world around it and … Continue Reading ››

Hiking in Waterton Lakes National Park

Lower Bertha Falls Trail

We went for a short hike from the Waterton Townsite up to Lower Bertha falls. It was a steady incline up for the first half of the hike up to a scenic lookout that offered great views of Waterton Lake in both directions. After that it was a relatively easy grade up to the falls. Although black bears were reported in the area we didn't seem any and we had a great hike up to the falls. We stopped for a picnic lunch and some photo opps at the falls and then we made our way back to … Continue Reading ››

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump

Louise's brother Rob and his family came for a visit and we all went on a tour of southern Alberta together. Although the highlight of the trip was a visit to Waterton National Park, the first stop was at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. This is a very impressive museum (and a Unesco World Heritage Site) that is way off the beaten path in the middle of a massive expanse of rural farmland. We really enjoyed the tour of the museum but also took advantage of the opportunity to walk around outside to see the actual Buffalo jump area too. It was a … Continue Reading ››
