We just got back from our annual Family Day Long Weekend ski trip to Lake Louise. We were gifted with some amazing powder all weekend and skiing conditions were simply amazing. Even more amazing was that the crowds were relatively light and we were able to get in a lot of great runs every day!

Hiking to Rummel Lake in Kananaskis
The hike up to Rummel Lake in Kananaskis may just be the most beautiful hike that you’ve never heard of! The terrain and features of the lake itself are very similar to Chester Lake (a few km down the highway), but the actual hike up to the lake is much much nicer than the hike to Chester.
3rd Annual Trail Ride at Anchor D Ranch
We went for our 3rd annual trail ride with friends at the Anchor D Ranch near Black Diamond to the south of Calgary today. Although we saw some very similar territory as we travelled on previous rides the guides managed to find an all new trail for us. It was as beautiful as ever and everyone came away happy. Every time we’ve done this we’ve gone away agreeing that it was pretty great and we should do it again next year!
The Calgary Zoo on a Cloudy Day
A few images from a family trip to the Calgary Zoo while Grandma Knobel was in town for a visit. It was a cloudy and relatively cool spring day (compared to the hot weather we’ve been having so far this year anyway…) but the animals were all very active and posed very well for me!
Family Day Long Weekend at Lake Louise
For the last several years we’ve been taking a ski vacation around the family day long weekend, usually with one or two other families that we ski with regularly. Due to the Canadian dollar tanking we definitely planned to stay in Canada, and because we have a Family Season’s Pass at Lake Louise this year it was a pretty easy decision to take advantage of that. So this we year we booked a hotel right in Lake Louise village and invited some friends to join us there!
