A Tour of Parliament Hill
We went for a family trip to Parliament Hill and took in the Changing of the Guard and a guided tour of Centre Block (including the House of Commons, the Senate, and the Library). It was all so very impressive and even the kids found the whole thing pretty interesting. The pomp and ceremony of it all, and the lavish and intricate stonework of the building itself is simply amazing. We also stopped by the Rideau Canal and saw a few boats moving through the locks. We had a fun lunch on the mall on Sparks street and I had my first poutine in years. Totally worth the trip!

When your children want to dress up, let them dress up!
We were getting ready to go out to dinner with some friends yesterday and Andrew decided he wanted to wear his "Handsome Clothes". He's been wearing his "Handsome Pants" (the suit pants that he wore to a wedding last Christmas) pretty regularly for over a year, and he just recently added a nice new shirt and tie to the collection. Melanie went to a Birthday Party at "Beaners Fun Cuts For Kids" and had a total makeover; hair, make-up, the works! She was very proud and excited about her new look and we had to go straight into the studio when she got home! What kid doesn't want a makeover followed up by a glamour photo shoot? Spoiled or what?
