We went for a winter hike along the Heart Creek Trail near Canmore with some friends. It was a pretty winter day and the hike was great. The hike is not long and we easily made it to the end of the trail at the top of the valley. Although there is a waterfall at the top, it is not accessible and we couldn't see it. It seems like it might be possible to get to it later in the winter if the whole creek freezes. We might have to go back after a major cold snap to have a better look...

Melanie went to a Birthday Party at "Beaners Fun Cuts For Kids" and had a total makeover; hair, make-up, the works! She was very proud and excited about her new look and we had to go straight into the studio when she got home! What kid doesn't want a makeover followed up by a glamour photo shoot? Spoiled or what?
I really can't believe it but my little girl turned 8 yesterday. She's growing up so fast! We spent most of the day yesterday preparing for her party which was her first sleepover party. We had 7 eight year old girls here for dinner, partying, and a sleepover. They made their own pizzas, painted nails, played games, had a Wii Dance Party, and of course we did a photobooth as well. We took a trip out on to the prairies east of Calgary today to create our own family portrait for this years Christmas Card. I didn't have a firm idea in mind other than I wanted to do something on the prairie, maybe making use of a big bale of hay, an old barn, or a grain bin. Something like that anyway.
